Chandigarh adopts 7th Central Pay Commission’s Dress Allowance

In accordance with the approval from Banwarilal Purohit, Hon’ble Administrator, UT Chandigarh, the Chandigarh Administration has adopted the directions from the Government of India, Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievance and Pensions (Department of Personnel & Training), Establishment (JCA-2) Section, New Delhi, regarding the implementation of the Seventh Central Pay Commission’s recommendations on Dress Allowance for common categories of Group ‘C’ and erstwhile Group ‘D’ employees of UT Chandigarh.
Following the decisions based on the Seventh Central Pay Commission’s recommendations related to Uniform Allowance, Washing Allowance, Stitching Charges, Shoe Allowance, etc., for common categories of Group ‘C’ and erstwhile Group ‘D’ employees across various Ministries/Departments, the employees who are provided uniforms and are required to wear them regularly will now receive Dress Allowance at the rate of Rs. 5000 per year.
Dress Allowance incorporates the earlier components like Uniform Allowance, Washing Allowance, Stitching Charges, Shoe Allowance, etc. Employees who were previously provided uniforms will no longer receive them, and the related maintenance and washing allowance are now subsumed under Dress Allowance. The Dress Allowance amount will be credited directly to employees’ salaries once a year in July.
