Centre has responded to fake vaccine scam within 24 hours after Suvendu Adhikari’s letter. The Union Ministry of Health has sent a letter to the state government asking for a report of this incident in two days. Meanwhile, the High Court has directed the state to submit an affidavit.

Hundreds of people in Kolkata have been given fake vaccines by fake IAS Debanjan Deb so far. State politics has been in turmoil since the fake vaccine incident came to light.

There is tension between the ruling party and the opposition. Meanwhile, the Union Ministry of Health has sent a letter to the state government asking for a report of the whole incident.

Opposition leader Suvendu had written to the Centre a few days ago demanding a CBI probe into the incident. After that, the Health Ministry sent a letter to the Chief Secretary Hari Krishna Dwivedi.

Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan said that vaccination should never be done without registration on the Co-Win portal. Before getting vaccinated, one has to register his name on the Central government portal and the person will receive a certificate after vaccination.

As per the letter, the state government will have to look into whether the certificate is being issued or not. Surveillance should be carried out at regular intervals. If the certificate does not match, the camp may be bogus, and even what is being given in the name of the vaccine may not be the real vaccine. It has also been warned that the number of fake camps might increase if the state government doesn’t take measures to put a stop to this. The state government has been asked to take immediate action by the Centre.

On 25 June, Suvendu appealed to the Union Health Minister to investigate the matter. “People’s lives are at stake here,” he wrote. The letter also mentions the release of Debanjan’s picture with Firhad Hakim, Subrata Mukherjee, Shantanu Sen, and Lovely Maitra. It is learned that 1,000 fake labels of Covishield were printed by Debanjan.

On the other hand, Acting Chief Justice Rajesh Bindal threatened the state on the same day. The judge slammed the state during a PIL in the High Court on Wednesday over the fake vaccines. He directed the state to submit an affidavit in this regard by Friday.
