The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has raised concerns regarding the disparity between theory and practical marks among students in past years’ results. In response, the board has instructed schools to conduct a thorough review of their internal assessment procedures to ensure accuracy and fairness in the evaluation process.

CBSE officials disclosed that a substantial variation between theory and practical marks has been identified among 50% of students in more than 500 CBSE-affiliated schools. Utilizing advanced AI tools, the board detected these inconsistencies based on result statistics from previous years.

Highlighting the necessity for meticulous assessment during practical examinations, CBSE emphasized the importance of implementing a more robust, transparent, and reliable evaluation mechanism. The board aims to enhance the assessment process to provide students with a realistic and valuable academic experience.

In a press note, they reiterated the need for schools to prioritize fairness and accuracy in assessing practical examinations. The advisory underscores the board’s commitment to improving the quality of education in CBSE-affiliated institutions and ensuring that students receive a comprehensive and equitable learning experience.
