The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has assumed control of 41 cases in Assam connected to various irregular deposit schemes. This move follows a recommendation from the Government of Assam to address widespread allegations of fraudulent investment practices.

Since taking over the cases, the CBI has intensified its investigation, conducting searches at 92 locations across five states. These operations have led to the seizure of significant digital evidence, including 24 mobile phones, 18 desktop computers, 7 hard drives, and 11 laptops.

Details of Defrauded Investors Recovered

As part of the ongoing probe, the CBI has successfully identified databases containing information about investors who were misled into depositing money in these unregulated schemes. The data is expected to be crucial in tracing the extent of the fraud and the amount of money swindled from the victims.

In a notable breakthrough, the CBI apprehended the main accused in the AJRS Marketing Pvt. Ltd. case. The individual had been evading arrest since the filing of the FIR. The suspect was found hiding in Siliguri, where investigators also recovered incriminating evidence linked to the fraudulent activities.

Court Grants Custody for Further Interrogation

The apprehended accused has been presented before the Court of the Special Judge (CBI Cases), which has authorized the CBI to hold him in custody for detailed interrogation and further investigation into the case.

The CBI remains committed to unearthing the complete scope of the fraudulent activities tied to these unregulated deposit schemes and ensuring the perpetrators are brought to justice. The investigation continues as more leads are being pursued.
