A shocking incident has emerged from Madhav Public School in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, where a Class 10 student was brutally beaten by a teacher, Abhishek Patel, in front of his classmates. The entire assault was captured on the school’s CCTV camera on September 24, 2024, and the footage quickly went viral, sparking outrage across social media.

The footage shows Patel dragging the student from his desk by the hair, slamming his head against a wall, and repeatedly slapping him with excessive force. The assault, which took place during school hours, was done in full view of other students, many of whom looked on in shock. The video further shows the teacher pushing the student towards the blackboard before hitting him again​.

The viral video led to swift action by the local authorities. The District Education Officer (DEO) immediately issued a notice to the school’s principal, suspending both the teacher and the principal. Patel was also detained by the police for questioning and now faces legal action. Corporal punishment, which has been illegal in Indian schools since 2000, remains an ongoing issue, despite repeated calls for stricter enforcement​.

In response to the incident, Madhav Public School has promised to retrain its staff to ensure such an event does not happen again.
