The former Intelligence Bureau official was struck and killed on the Manasagangotri campus in Mysuru on Friday night. On Sunday, the Mysuru police stated they have intensified their investigation to find the perpetrators and find the automobile.

The 83-year-old former IB officer, R.N. Kulkarni, was killed by a speeding car around 5.30 p.m. while out for his usual evening stroll on the vast campus. Despite initially believing it to be a case of a road accident, the police later suspected murder based on their initial investigation, particularly after obtaining CCTV evidence.

Three teams were formed as part of a full-fledged investigation to find the perpetrators of the crime. A major search has been launched to find the anonymous grey automobile that struck him and then raced off.

Mr. Kulkarni lived in Sharadadevi Nagar in Mysuru and had relocated there after retiring.

According to reports, the police have detained a few people to question.

On Sunday, Police Commissioner Chandragupta informed the modes that teams are working to find the automobile. “We are interrogating a few folks. “We’re looking at everything,” he said.

Kulkarni was crossing the small road on one side when a car without a licence plate veered off the road, struck him, and then raced off.

The car had no licence plate, the driver(s) did not stop after hitting the elderly person, and the narrow road is not typically used by cars because there are alternate roads. These factors led the police to suspect murder.

The police are also looking into whether the assailants followed Mr. Kulkarni’s movements before mowing him down.
