Zupee Hits 100M Users: Founder Hails India’s Collaborative Approach

Zupee, the trailblazing skill-based gaming platform, has catapulted to a staggering 100 million users, solidifying its dominance in the online Ludo arena. This meteoric rise is a testament to India’s burgeoning startup ecosystem, which, according to Zupee’s Founder, Dilsher Singh Malhi, owes much of its success to the government’s adept balancing act between innovation and regulation.

“The Indian government has done a fantastic job, especially in striking the right balance between innovation and regulation,” Malhi remarked in a recent interview. He emphasized that while overregulation can stifle creativity, under-regulation may allow malpractices to flourish. Malhi praised the government’s collaborative approach in fostering a fair and transparent gaming environment, noting, “Our experience working with the government to create a fair, transparent, and responsible gaming ecosystem has been exceptional.”

Founded in 2018, Zupee has revolutionized traditional Indian games by digitizing culturally rooted favorites like Ludo and Snakes & Ladders, making them more engaging for the masses. Malhi highlighted the universal appeal of gaming, stating, “Gaming is one of the most fundamental needs of humans.” He attributed Zupee’s success to its ability to enhance these classic games and bring them online, thereby rekindling the nation’s passion for them.

Reflecting on the broader impact of startups, Malhi drew parallels between entrepreneurial innovation and historic milestones such as the invention of fire and electricity. He asserted, “Startups are the lever of progress for civilization and the country. A thriving startup ecosystem is essential for any nation’s survival.”

Addressing concerns about responsible gaming, Malhi acknowledged the validity of criticisms but expressed confidence in emerging technologies like AI and blockchain to mitigate associated risks. He advocated for frameworks that ensure entertainment while incorporating necessary safeguards, stating, “Leveraging emerging technologies can meaningfully address these concerns.”

Looking ahead, Zupee plans to fortify its leadership in the casual gaming market and explore innovative applications of new technologies beyond its core offerings. This forward-thinking approach aligns with India’s dynamic startup landscape, which continues to thrive under supportive government policies and a culture that champions innovation.
