PM Modi Highlights Deepening India-Germany Ties at Business Conference

Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized the growing friendship between India and Germany during his address at the 18th Asia-Pacific Conference of German Business 2024. He noted that recent collaborations across various sectors reflect the deepening ties between the two nations. “On one hand, the CEO Forum meeting is being held here, while on the other, our navies are practicing together,” Modi stated, mentioning the presence of German naval ships on a port call in Goa. He also highlighted the upcoming seventh inter-governmental consultations between India and Germany.

A Vision for the Future

Celebrating the 25th anniversary of the India-Germany strategic partnership, PM Modi expressed optimism about the future, stating, “The next 25 years are going to take this partnership to new heights.” He revealed that a comprehensive roadmap has been developed to facilitate India’s growth over the next quarter-century.

PM Modi welcomed the German Cabinet’s release of the “Focus on India” document, describing it as a blueprint for cooperation between the two democracies and economies. “It clearly reflects the approach and commitment to take the strategic partnership forward in a holistic manner,” he said, particularly praising Germany’s trust in India’s skilled workforce.

The Prime Minister also pointed out Germany’s decision to increase the annual issuance of visas for skilled Indian workers from 20,000 to 90,000, expressing confidence that this move will enhance Germany’s economic growth.

Growing Trade Relations

PM Modi highlighted the significant trade relationship, noting that mutual trade has surpassed $30 billion. He remarked on the presence of numerous German companies in India and the growing footprint of Indian businesses in Germany, stating, “India is becoming the biggest center of diversification and de-risking.” He concluded by urging international businesses to “Make in India, Make for the World,” emphasizing the strategic timing for investments in the country.
