Microsoft founder, Bill expressed his divorce with Ex-wife Melinda French Gates as the “biggest regret” of his life. The duo split up in 2021 May after a long 27 years of marriage; Gates completed his separation with his ex-wife three months down the road. Yet, he still thinks that he would probably do everything all over again if given the chance to rewind time.

‘Wasn’t Great’ – Gates on His Divorce Experience

In an NBC’s TODAY interview about his source code new book, he asked Gates why he claimed divorce as his greatest disappointment. He explained that even though his professional and personal life are quite fabulous, the division was really tough.
“My business career, although there’ve been ups and downs, has been phenomenal. My kids are phenomenal, so it’s hard for me to complain about things,” he said.

He said that even though it is not easy, he and Melinda have done a great job of co-parenting their three children. “The divorce wasn’t great. Having those three kids, the work we were able to do together—even if I knew it wouldn’t last forever—I would still do it again.”

Bill Gates about Paula Hurd

Since the billionaire philanthropist, 69, remarried, he has found love again. He confirmed that he is dating Paula Hurd, the widow of the deceased former Oracle chief executive Mark Hurd.
“We are having a good time, attending the Olympics and a lot of great things,” he said.

The two have been spotted several times attending glamorous events, including the 2024 Paris Olympics and the Australian Open in Melbourne.

Gates Family Ties

Even though their marriage was over, the duo maintains a family and continues to co-parent their three children: Jennifer, Rory, and Phoebe. They also have two grandchildren, so it is not difficult for them to stay in touch.

“We still see each other—we have family events,” said Gates, underlining that the divorce was not easy, but the family ties are strong enough.
