Sheela Devi, a 40-year-old bus attendant, was brought to the Advanced Trauma Centre of PGIMER on July 8th, 2022, in a very critical condition after she sustained a head injury due to the fall of the heritage tree on her in Carmel Convent School, Sector 9, Chandigarh. She ran to save the kids but herself sustained serious injuries and was medically declared to be in a coma for a while. 

Several Chandigarh parents and residents, as well as the school administration, contributed financially to help Sheela and her children maintain a smooth treatment and routine life.Today, the entire ambiance was filled with hope and happiness here in PGIMER, as visibly moved Sheela Devi was discharged amid cheers and claps from PGIMER today after her miraculous recovery. 

Making her send-off from the hospital a special occasion, Prof. Vipin Koushal, Medical Superintendent, PGIMER, was personally present at the Nehru Hospital along with the PGIMER team comprising Prof. Kajal Jain from Deptt. of Anaesthesia & Intensive Care, Dr. Aastha Takkar from Deptt. of Neurology, Dr. Apinder Preet Singh from Deptt. of Neuro Surgery, Dr. Ranjana Singh & Dr. Raman Sharma from Deptt. of Hospital Administration and wished her well on her successful recovery. Senior nursing officers and other members of the PGIMER were also present who have been instrumental in her journey of recovery.
