BUMRAH’S EFFECTIVE BOWLING IN ENGLAND WAS GAME-CHANGING

Indian bowlers are generally seen bowling around 145 kmph early in their career, but with time, their bowling goes to a mark from 128 to 132 kmph. But, Jasprit Bumrah is an exception. With the passage of time, his bowling has improved tremendously. He even intimidates the opposition batsmen with his speed, like all his experiments and variety of his bowling.

Bumrah’s experiments are also successful because he uses back spin with his releases. This helps in late swinging the ball from the bright side of the ball. Through this back spin, Bumrah bounces many times with the use of wrists, which is currently the most dangerous than any other fast bowler in the world. Such balls have a limited bounce and the batsman cannot decide whether to hit or leave the ball.

The speed of the ball is so fast that the batsman does not get enough time and it increases the risk of THE top edge. Not only this, Yorker balls coming inwards from Bumrah are also very dangerous. He took the wicket of Jonny Bairstow in the second innings of the Oval Test on his in-swinging yorker. He even troubled Joe Root with his yorkers, after which Joe Root came under pressure.

Bumrah completed 100 wickets. He completed this milestone in fewer matches among all fast bowlers of India. He achieved this feat in 24 Tests while Kapil Dev had to play 25 Tests for hundred wickets. Irfan Pathan had to wait for 28 matches, and Mohammed Shami had to wait for 29 matches respectively.

This same Bumrah was completely out of form before the current series against England. He did not take any wicket in the final of the World Test Championship and in the Test played against England in Ahmedabad before that. At that time, his problem was his lower back. But now, he is completely fit. There were many occasions in the current series when he did not get along at the other end. Mohammed Shami got injured. Siraj’s swing disappeared and Virat did not have much faith in Shardul Thakur`s bowling. Nevertheless, Bumrah took the wickets of Ollie Pope and Bairstow in the Oval Test, and it proved to be decisive.Even the English captain Joe Root himself considers Bumrah to be the biggest reason for the defeat of his host.

Bumrah proved to be decisive in Johannesburg, Nottingham, Adelaide, Melbourne, Kingston and now in Oval. Hope he will develop his nip-backer ball like Mohammed Shami and Umesh Yadav.
