After the Nuh violence and administrative action, the phase of struggles in Court has begun. While CPI (M) leaders Brinda Karat and MK Tiwari have sought to implead themselves in the ongoing hearing of the petition against hate speech in the Supreme Court, the Delhi High Court Women Lawyers Association has also filed a letter petition in the Supreme Court.
Brinda Karat and MK Tiwari have alleged in the petition that after the Nuh violence, VHP and Bajrang Dal leaders are inciting people against Muslims in the name of Hinduism in public meetings. There are warnings of public boycott of Muslims. This is creating a situation of fear among the Muslims.
Further, the Delhi High Court Women Lawyers Association has stated in the letter petition that videos are being circulated on various social media platforms purportedly showing hate speeches and slogans at places in Haryana including Nuh, in which some communities are calling for economic boycott and other abuses. Such dissemination may incite communal disharmony and violence.
Delhi High Court Women Lawyers Association urges the Court to direct the State Government to take steps as per earlier directions to prevent incidents of hate speech, track and ban videos of hate speech and take immediate action against those found responsible for these acts.
