The venue of the third Test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy between India and Australia has been shifted from Dharamshala to Indore. The change has been officially confirmed by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The third Test is scheduled to begin March 1–5.
The news has distracted a huge number of fans, who are now busy counting their losses. Several fans have to suffer without fault.
One of the fans, Nitin Sundar, said we are shocked to learn that, amid the change of venue for the third Test, he was ready to fly from Dubai to watch the match.
Sundar, along with many cricket fans, were planning to land in Dharamshala to watch the Test from the charming venue, as it is situated along the Dhauladhar range of the Himalayas. Many fans in India had booked their tickets and hotels in advance ahead of the Test match, and all of them are in disbelief.
The BCCI said in its statement that the cruel winter season in the region and the lack of sufficient grass on the outfield forced the top brass of the BCCI to take such a decision. The BCCI added that it will take time to fully develop the ground.
In the four-match Test series, India outclassed Australia in all departments of the game in the opening match played at Nagpur. In both innings, India spinners Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, and Axar Patel mesmerized the visitors’ batting.
Jadeja was named “Man of the Match” for his all-around performance.
The second Test is scheduled to be played in Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium from February 17–21, and the fourth match of the series will be held in Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad, from March 9–13.
