Shine Tom Chacko Arrested After Raid; Actress Vincy Aloshious Speaks Out

Kerala police arrested Malayalam actor Shine Tom Chacko on Saturday. Officers from Kochi City North Police later took him to the General Hospital for a medical test related to alleged drug use, according to an official statement.

Actor Reported to Police Early

The police had earlier announced that Shine would appear at 10:30 am. However, he arrived at the Ernakulam North Police Station with his lawyers by 10 am. He came in response to a police notice, which required him to explain why he ran away from a hotel room in Kochi during a recent raid.

BJP Leader Slams Kerala Govt

Meanwhile, BJP leader Nivedita Subramanian criticised the Kerala government for not speaking out against the rising abuse cases involving women in the film industry. She referred to actress Vincy Aloshious’s recent complaint against Shine Tom Chacko.

While speaking to ANI, Subramanian said, “In Kerala, abuse of women and children is on the rise, especially in sectors like the film industry.” She accused the ruling party of being silent and ignoring serious allegations.

She added, “We have raised this issue many times before the ruling party and the leaders of the state, but the government is actually doing nothing to address it and is facilitating such mafias.”

Vincy Aloshious Files Complaint

Actress Vincy Aloshious, known for her roles in Rekha, Vikruthi, and Jana Gana Mana, formally complained to the Kerala Film Chamber of Commerce and the film industry’s internal complaints committee.

She also posted a video on Instagram to explain her side. In the video, Vincy said, “Some days ago, at an anti-drug campaign, I made a statement that I would not work with people I know who use drugs.” She said many questioned her stance, so she felt the need to clarify.

Actress Accuses Shine of Misconduct

In the video, Vincy detailed incidents that made her feel unsafe on the set of Suthravakyam. She alleged that Shine, the lead actor in the film, misbehaved with her and another colleague while under the influence of drugs.

One disturbing moment, according to Vincy, was when Shine offered to help her fix a wardrobe malfunction in front of the entire crew. She described the offer as “inappropriate” and uncomfortable.

Actor Allegedly Used Drugs on Set

Vincy also described another incident where Shine allegedly used a white powder during a rehearsal. “He was spitting some kind of white powder onto the table, which was very evident that he was using drugs on set,” she said.

Although the behaviour troubled her, she continued working because Shine had a leading role in the film. Vincy claimed that the production team was aware of the issue. While the director tried to address it, the shoot continued.

Film Chamber Reviews the Case

Now, the Kerala Film Chamber of Commerce is reviewing Vincy’s complaint. As the case unfolds, the actor’s arrest and the actress’s statements have intensified the debate around drug use and misconduct in the Malayalam film industry.
