Bollywood actress Sanya Malhotra’s latest OTT release, ‘Mrs,’ is facing controversy after a prominent men’s rights group, the ‘Save Indian Family Foundation,’ blasted the film as telling a one-sided narrative.
The group maintained that while the movie shows the struggle of women’s oppression within arranged marriages, it turns a blind eye to the abuse suffered by children, men, and senior citizens within families.
The organization took to social media platform X to voice its disappointment, stating, “Men’s issues exist for only 20% of policies governing vulnerable people; 80, a very different picture.” In a series of posts, the group lashed out at the outlook of the film for evidently playing into a feminist narrative while ignoring other demographics’ sufferings.
The games feminists play are,
Women are suffering; children are not facing any abuse in families.
Women are suffering; men are not facing any crimes.
Women are suffering abuse; senior citizens are not facing harassment in the family.

SIFF’s Fury in Social Media
The group, which boasts 38.7K followers on X, harped about gender roles in household work.
Women inherently believe the workplace means a comfortable, air-conditioned place. They do not consider work at construction sites, train stations, etc, or potential workplaces.
They also do not consider that even working in AC can be quite stressful and depressing.

One post stated, “Men should not share a 50-50 in domestic work; 70-80% of material goods, clothes, furniture, gadgets are sought and enjoyed by women.”
Another post stirred up yet another debate, “Is cooking meditative? Why would pressing clothes or washing clothes in a washing machine stress a person?” The sentiment generated considerable fire, with many users refusing to accept it.
All About ‘Mrs’ & Its Reaction
Directed by Arati Kadav, ‘Mrs’ stars Sanya Malhotra as Richa, an aspiring dancer who, after her marriage, finds herself trapped in a patriarchal household. Amid strains of societal expectations, she rises against humiliation. This Krety-Up movie is based on the Malayalam flick The Great Indian Kitchen and also features Nishant Dahiya and Kanwaljit Singh. This film is streaming on Zee5.
The online debate heightened, with users weighing in on the SIFF statements. Some were in agreement with the organization in wanting more attention drawn to it, while others continued to dispute the idea.
