‘Recall first song he played for Raha’ Ranbir Announces Raj Kapoor Film Festival at IFFI | Watch

Ranbir Kapoor recently revealed a special announcement at the 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI). He shared plans for a Raj Kapoor film festival, honoring his grandfather on his birth centenary. During the event, Ranbir also spoke about a touching moment with his daughter, Raha Kapoor.

A Special Song for Raha Kapoor

Ranbir recalled the first song he played for Raha. It was Kisi Ki Muskurahaton Pe, a classic from his grandfather’s 1959 film Anari. He explained that the song’s simplicity made it ideal for Raha. “If you hear the lyrics of the song, it is so simple, and it’s definitely a great philosophy to live your life by,” he said. Ranbir emphasized the timeless message of selfless service in the song.

Fatherhood and Cinema’s Responsibility

As a father, Ranbir feels responsible for shaping his daughter’s future. He wants Raha to grow up surrounded by good films and music. “I am a father, and I have to think of my child and what the world will be like for her after so many years. As people from cinema and as artistes, it is our moral responsibility to make films that entertain but also educate people,” he said.

Raj Kapoor’s Influence on Ranbir’s Work

Ranbir was asked which film he would have liked his grandfather to direct. He replied that he would have loved Raj Kapoor’s take on Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. Ranbir praised Raj Kapoor for his love stories, especially Bobby. “Because he made Bobby and was always amazing with love stories, I would really like to see him direct Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani and celebrate the music and the characters,” he said.

Ranbir’s Upcoming Projects

Ranbir’s future looks exciting with multiple films in the pipeline. He will star in Ramayana directed by Nitesh Tiwari, alongside Sai Pallavi and Yash. The film will release in Diwali 2026, with the second part following in Diwali 2027. Additionally, Ranbir is shooting for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love And War in Bikaner, featuring Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal. He will also appear in Dhoom 4 under the Yash Raj Films banner.
