Netflix’s Latest Top 10: Supacell Ousts Bridgerton As Beverly Hills Cop Axel F Claims First Place

For the week of July 1 to 7, Netflix saw a slight shift in its top titles for films and television, both of which featured Black leads. In the English films category, ‘Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F’, starring Eddie Murphy, made a solid debut with 41 million views.

Meanwhile, the all-Black sci-fi series ‘Supacell’, set in England, gained traction from the previous week and finally surpassed the romance drama ‘Bridgerton’ Season 3. Notably, “Bridgerton” Season 3 moved up to eighth place on Netflix’s Most Popular List of all time with 95.8 million views, overtaking ‘Bridgerton’ Season 2. Here’s a detailed look at the global streaming service’s top performers.

Supacell Surpasses Bridgerton Season 3

After debuting in second place last week, the British sci-fi series ‘Supacell’ improved its standing, taking the top spot from the long-dominant ‘Bridgerton’ Season 3. The futuristic series featuring an all-Black cast, including Tosin Cole, Adelayo Adedayo, and Eddie Marsan, garnered 11.8 million views in its second week.

Meanwhile, ‘Bridgerton’ Season 3 fell to fourth place with 8 million views. ‘That 90s Show Part 2’ underperformed, debuting in eighth place with 1.8 million views.

Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F Debuts in First Place

Eddie Murphy, alongside a healthy dose of nostalgia, helped ‘Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F’ claim the top spot on the film charts with 41 million views. The rom-com ‘A Family Affair’, starring Nicole Kidman and Zac Efron, secured second place with 31.9 million views in its second week. Jessica Alba’s ‘Trigger Warning’ came in third place but saw a significant drop to 8 million views from 26.3 million views last week.

Non-English Films Chart

In the Non-English Films category, Junaid Khan’s Bollywood debut landed in third place during its second week with 3.2 million views. The Rajkummar Rao starrer ‘Srikanth’ debuted in seventh place with 1.6 million views. This Hindi film, directed by Tushar Hiranandani, is a biopic about industrialist Srikanth Bolla.
