Actor Nagarjuna recently expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for honouring his father, the legendary Akkineni Nageswara Rao (ANR), on his centenary year. Taking to social media, Nagarjuna shared a touching note in response to the Prime Minister’s kind words and recognition of his father’s contributions to Indian cinema.
On X, Nagarjuna shared, “Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi ji, thanks to you for including my dad’s memory along with such stalwart legends. His vision for Indian cinema continues to inspire generations. It is extremely meaningful to the family and millions of fans. #ANRLivesON #IndianCinema.”

His daughter-in-law, Sobhita Dhulipala, a known actress, wasn’t too far behind in celebrating ANR’s glory in a public post. She mentioned her regard to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, stating, “the magnificent endorsement of Akkineni Nageswara Rao Garu’s cinematic stature and his iconic status and service to the Telugu Cinema industry. Immensely grateful.” Her husband, actor Naga Chaitanya, echoed her sentiments by sharing the same post.
PM Modi praised Akkineni Nageswara Rao for taking Telugu cinema to great heights and wonderfully depicting Indian traditions and values through his films. In the last Mann Ki Baat of 2024, the Prime Minister also paid homage to other iconic figures such as Raj Kapoor, Mohammed Rafi, and Tapan Sinha.
Akkineni Nageswara Rao, better known by his stage as ANR, was a well-known actor and producer with a seven-decade career. He produced some of the most famous films of his career, including Gundamma Katha (1962), Laila Majnu (1949), Ardhangi (1955), Vipra Narayana (1954), Tenali Ramakrishna (1956), and Manam (2014). We will never forget his contribution to the Telugu cinema industry.
