Terrorists opened fire on civilians in the Baisaran area of Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday around 3 pm. As a result, 26 people lost their lives and 20 others were injured. Soon after the gunshots, security forces rushed to the spot.
Following the attack, Prime Minister Narendra Modi cut short his visit to Saudi Arabia. He returned to Delhi on Wednesday and skipped the official dinner. He condemned the incident and stated that the guilty would be punished. Moreover, he reaffirmed India’s firm resolve to fight terrorism.
Javed Akhtar Voices Anger Online
Meanwhile, veteran lyricist Javed Akhtar took to X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday. He expressed strong anger over the brutal incident.
He wrote, “Come what may, whatever the cost, whatever the repercussions, the terrorists of Pahalgam cannot be allowed to get away. These mass murderers have to pay with their lives for their inhuman deeds.”

Consequently, many social media users supported his statement. One person commented, “And hopefully their masters too. Need to stop playing by the rules when no one else does. It is not a gentleman’s game anymore.”
Another added, “Justice must prevail — not just for the victims, but for the soul of humanity itself.”
Additionally, a third user praised Javed Akhtar and said, “Influential people like you must come in solidarity with the people, as you have a voice that reaches masses across the country.”
Bollywood Joins in Condemnation
Soon after, other Bollywood celebrities shared their grief. Farhan Akhtar posted on Instagram, “Deeply shocked and horrified by the brutal terrorist attack in Pahalgam. This senseless act of violence against innocent lives is absolutely inexcusable and must be condemned in the strongest possible terms. My heartfelt condolences go out to the families of those who lost their lives, and I stand in solidarity with the people of Kashmir during this tragic time.”
Likewise, stars such as Akshay Kumar, Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor, Sanjay Dutt, Anushka Sharma, and Vicky Kaushal also posted messages. They all expressed sorrow and demanded justice.
Nation Calls for Justice
As expected, the attack sparked outrage across the country. Citizens demanded quick and strong action. They urged the government to punish the terrorists and strengthen national security.
