Many people believe Khushi Kapoor is used to fame. After all, she is the daughter of late Bollywood legend Sridevi and producer Boney Kapoor. However, Khushi says that’s not the case. In fact, she admits that constant public attention can feel overwhelming.
During an interview, she explained that she still manages to keep parts of her life private. Not everything about her is available for public discussion.
Living in the Public Eye
From a young age, Khushi lived under media attention. However, her Bollywood debut in The Archies (2023) pushed her even further into the spotlight.
Even though the fame brings pressure, she tries to protect her peace of mind. Therefore, she keeps certain things away from the public.
“Being in the public eye definitely comes with its pressures, especially when it comes to balancing openness with privacy. At the same time, I’m mindful about keeping certain things just for myself and the people closest to me,” she said.
“Setting those boundaries has been important for my peace of mind. I think you can be authentic and real without having to share everything, and for me, it’s all about finding that balance where I feel safe, grounded, and true to myself,” she added.
Her Journey in Bollywood
As she entered the film industry, Khushi began to learn more about herself. According to her, acting helped her grow both personally and professionally. Still, the process hasn’t always been easy.
“The entertainment industry has fostered personal growth and self-discovery. It hasn’t always been smooth sailing but I’ve learned to prioritise my personal journey, surround myself with a strong support system, and acknowledge that growth is gradual,” she shared.
Therefore, Khushi now focuses on projects that help her improve and stay authentic.
“I seek out narratives that challenge and foster personal and artistic growth. Maintaining authenticity in my personal life—through my style, advocacy, and interactions—is equally vital,” she stated.
Being Selective with Projects
Since her debut, Khushi has chosen her work carefully. She has acted in films like Loveyapa and Nadaaniyan. Moreover, she has partnered with brands that reflect her personal values.
Recently, she collaborated with fashion brand AZORTE for the #YourSafeSpace campaign. The campaign promotes self-expression and celebrates individuality.
“I align myself with brands that carry a profound message and address pertinent issues,” she explained.
In fact, this campaign meant something personal to her. She revealed that she struggled with self-esteem during her childhood. For that reason, fashion became her way to feel confident.
“Growing up with self-esteem struggles, I’ve learned how powerful self-expression can be, and it gives the freedom to explore and celebrate one’s identity without conforming. (Also because) Fashion, to me, is a personal statement,” she said.
Finding Her Safe Space
When asked about her safe space, Khushi gave a heartfelt answer. She said her comfort comes from the people she trusts.
“My safe space is with my family and close friends, especially my sister Janhvi (Janhvi Kapoor). My safe space is wherever I feel understood, supported, and free to be myself,” she concluded.
