The Kapoor family gathered for a special occasion. They flew from Mumbai to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi before the Raj Kapoor Film Festival. This event celebrates the 100th birth anniversary of the legendary actor-director. Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Neetu Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor, Karisma Kapoor, and Saif Ali Khan were seen at a private airport in Mumbai. Neetu and Karisma wore white salwar suits, while Kareena and Alia chose red. Ranbir and Alia posed for a photo together. Ranbir, in a black blazer, was joined by Saif, who wore traditional clothes. The family plans to invite PM Modi to the festival in New Delhi.
Raj Kapoor Film Festival Details
Ranbir Kapoor recently announced the Raj Kapoor Film Festival. It will run from December 13 to 15 across India. The festival will showcase 10 of Raj Kapoor’s films in restored versions. The National Film Development Corporation of India (NFDC), National Film Archives of India (NFAI), and Film Heritage Foundation (FHF) are involved in the restoration project. Ranbir and his uncle Kunal Kapoor are also part of the effort.
“We’ll show restored versions of 10 Raj Kapoor films at the festival,” Ranbir said.
Importance of Remembering Heritage
Ranbir also spoke about remembering one’s roots. He shared a story about Alia Bhatt asking, “Who’s Kishore Kumar?” He explained how important it is to preserve the legacy of great artists. “It’s a circle of life. People get forgotten, but we must remember our roots,” he said.
Ranbir’s Biopic Plans
Ranbir shared his wish to make a biopic on Raj Kapoor. He has discussed the idea with filmmakers like Sanjay Leela Bhansali. “A biopic isn’t just about success. It should show the person’s struggles and relationships too,” he explained. He also said, “It would be a tough biopic to make, and I’m not sure my family would agree to some parts of Raj Kapoor’s story. But I think it could be a great film.”
Raj Kapoor’s Legacy
Raj Kapoor’s work still leaves a mark on Indian cinema. His classics include Awaara, Shree 420, Sangam, and Mera Naam Joker. He received numerous awards, including the Padma Bhushan in 1971 and the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 1988. His films were showcased at the Cannes Film Festival.
