Hoyte van Hoytema won award for Best Cinematography for ‘Oppenheimer’

‘Oppenheimer’ adds another victory to its list, securing the Best Cinematography award at the Oscars 2024. Hoyte van Hoytema takes home the award for Best Cinematography for his work on ‘Oppenheimer.’

Taking to X, The Academy shared a post and wrote, “The Oscar for Best Cinematography goes to… ‘Oppenheimer’!”

The biopic, taking place amid World War II, tracks Oppenheimer, renowned as the “Father of the Atomic Bomb,” as he grapples with the realization that testing the atomic bomb could trigger a catastrophic event by igniting the atmosphere and leading to global destruction. Nonetheless, he proceeds to push the button despite this understanding.

At the 96th Academy Awards, ‘Oppenheimer’ clinched victories in several categories including Best Actor in a Leading Role, Best Supporting Actor, Best Film Editing, Best Cinematography, and Best Original Score.

The cast boasts a lineup of notable names including Rami Malek, Kenneth Branagh, Benny Safdie, Dane DeHaan, Jack Quaid, Matthew Modine, Alden Ehrenreich, Josh Peck, Jason Clarke, David Dastmalchian, Alex Wolff, James D’Arcy, and more. Florence Pugh portrays Jean Tatlock, Emily Blunt stars as Kitty Oppenheimer, while Robert Downey Jr. takes on the roles of Lewis Strauss. Recently, Christopher Nolan secured the Best Director award for his biopic ‘Oppenheimer’ at the BAFTA Film Awards 2024.
