Himesh Reshammiya’s Father, Music Director Vipin Reshammiya, Passes Away At 87

Veteran music director Vipin Reshammiya, father of popular singer and composer Himesh Reshammiya, passed away on Wednesday evening. Vipin was 87 and had been suffering from age-related health issues and breathing problems. He was admitted to Mumbai’s Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital, where he took his last breath at 8:30 pm, as reported by Times of India. His family friend, Vanita Thapar, confirmed the sad news.

A Legacy in Music

Vipin Reshammiya made his mark in the entertainment industry as a television serial producer before transitioning into music direction. He played a significant role in shaping his son Himesh’s career, who went on to become one of Bollywood’s top composers and singers. Vanita Thapar, who shared a close bond with the family, said, “He had a breathing problem and was in Kokilaben hospital. I used to call him papa since the time he was making TV serials. Later, he became a music director, and Himesh followed in his footsteps.”

Final Rites in Juhu

The last rites for Vipin Reshammiya will be held on September 19 in Juhu, Mumbai. Family and close friends will gather to pay their respects to the man whose contributions to music, though often behind the scenes, played a crucial role in shaping Bollywood music.

Himesh’s Heartfelt Tribute to His Father

In 2021, Himesh Reshammiya shared a touching tribute to his father on the stage of Indian Idol 12. He revealed a special connection between his father and two legendary singers, Lata Mangeshkar and Kishore Kumar. Vipin had composed a song with the iconic singers, which was never released. Himesh had taken to Instagram to share his excitement about eventually releasing the song, which he described as one of the finest melodies of all time.

He wrote, “My dad, composer Vipin Reshammiya, had composed a beautiful track quite a few years back sung by the legendary Lataji and Kishore Kumar ji. Unfortunately, it couldn’t be released then. I feel that it’s one of the finest classic melodies of all time, which should come out for all music lovers.”

As the Reshammiya family mourns the loss of a beloved patriarch, his contributions to the world of music will remain a part of his lasting legacy.
