Saif Ali Khan Knife Attack: Suspect Captured on CCTV; First Photo Out

The first photograph of the attacker who allegedly stabbed Bollywood star Saif Ali Khan in his Mumbai residence has been released. The image shows the suspect glaring directly at a CCTV camera as he descends the staircase after committing the violent act.

Saif Ali Khan, 54, was repeatedly stabbed with a knife by the intruder inside his 12th-floor apartment in the upscale Bandra area in the early hours. Following emergency surgery, doctors at Lilavati Hospital confirmed that Khan was “out of danger.”

The attack was first discovered when Khan’s domestic help raised the alarm after the intruder entered the apartment. She sustained a minor hand injury during the ensuing scuffle.

According to the preliminary investigation, the intruder did not forcibly break into the apartment but is believed to have sneaked in at some point during the night. The altercation between Khan and the attacker reportedly occurred when Khan emerged after hearing the woman’s cries for help.

After the incident, Khan’s staff took him to Lilavati Hospital in an auto rickshaw. A surgery was conducted to remove the knife that was lodged near his spine.

“He sustained six injuries, two are minor, two intermediate and two deep injuries, one of the injuries is on the back which is close to the spine… Saif sustained a major injury to his thoracic spine due to a knife… Surgery was performed to remove the knife and also to repair the leaking spinal fluid,” the doctors said.

Two deep wounds were located on his left hand and right side of the neck, which were treated by the plastic surgery team. The actor was stable and completely out of danger. He was moved to the ICU but is expected to be shifted to a normal ward after a day.

Representatives of the actor have described the incident as an “attempted burglary.”
