Dino Morea and Brother Santino Questioned in ₹65 Crore Mithi River Desilting Scam Probe

Actor Dino Morea and his brother Santino were presented before Mumbai Police’s Economic Offences Wing (EOW) on Monday regarding the supposed ₹65 crore Mithi River desilting scam. Dino reached the EOW office at about 11 am for questioning, as per The Free Press Journal.

The authorities called for Dino once records of phone calls made by him, his brother, and the prime accused of the scam, Ketan Kadam, were found during the probe. The call records and associated financial transactions led to questioning of Dino’s possible involvement.

EOW Investigates Actor’s Link to Prime Accused

We learned that the EOW is probing if Dino Morea was aware or involved in any nexus of Ketan Kadam with others. ANI reported on X: “Bollywood actor Dino Morea is questioned by Mumbai Police’s EOW in the Mithi River desilting scam. His name cropped up during the inquiry for having links with one of the arrested accused involved in the case: Mumbai police.”

Inside the Mithi River Desilting Scam

The scam supposedly pertains to financial malpractices in hiring dredging and silt pusher machines on rent by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). The machines, essential in clearing the Mithi River, were allegedly hired at higher rates.

EOW has now already arrested two prime suspects—director of desilting company Woder India LLP, Ketan Kadam, and Jayesh Joshi, who was linked to Virgo Specialties Pvt Ltd. Investigators suspect that these men were go-betweens, providing equipment at inflated prices in connivance with officials from BMC’s Storm Water Drains (SWD) department and Matprop executives.

13 people have been booked so far in relation to the case.
