Actress Chahat Vig, who began her career with a supporting role in Mrunal Thakur’s ‘Gumraah’, recently impressed fans with her work in the SonyLiv series ‘36 Days’. The show features her as Sia, a glamorous star, who strives to keep her husband happy.
In an exclusive interview with The Daily Guardian, Chahat opened up about playing the “complex” role and revealed that she worked on her speech to get the right tonality for the part.
She also said that she could not relate to certain aspects of her character but fully identified with her love for family. Chahat also indicated that she would love to be part of the show’s second season if and wherever it happens as she is fond of crime-thrillers.
Edited excerpts from the interview:
What drew you towards 36 Days?
I really liked the character as it is quite complex. She is chasing her dreams and also trying to be a girl next door. So, there is a dilemma at play.
How did you prepare for the role of Sia?
The first step involved analysing the script to identify what goes on in her subconscious (mind). Then I needed to decode the tonality and work on my speech.
Are there any similarities between Chahat and Sia?
There are some similarities between us. We are both people with a lot of empathy and love for family.
Are there any aspects of the character you could not relate to?
Sia is timid in nature. As a result, she has lost her voice in the relationship. That definitely is not the case with me. Moreover, Sia has let trauma dominate her life.
How was the experience of working with Purab Kohli and Neha Sharma?
It was a lovely experience and everyone was a delight to work with. I got to learn a lot from them.
Are you open to 36 Days season 2?
Why not? I love crime and thriller
