Television actress Nia Sharma, recognized for her roles in shows like Naagin, has been officially announced as the first contestant for the upcoming season of Bigg Boss 18. The popular reality show, hosted by Salman Khan, is set to premiere on October 6. Although there had been much speculation surrounding the contestants for this season, no confirmations had been made until now.
During the finale of Khatron Ke Khiladi 14, which aired on Colors—the same network that broadcasts Bigg Boss—Nia Sharma, who recently finished filming for Comedy Chefs, made a special appearance. Host Rohit Shetty revealed Nia as the first confirmed contestant for Bigg Boss 18. As her fellow celebrities congratulated her, Nia responded with a nervous smile. Reports indicate that she had previously declined offers to join Bigg Boss, making her acceptance this time a surprise.
Salman Khan, who has been the host since the show’s third season 15 years ago, returns once again. Over the past decade, Bigg Boss has remained one of the most-watched television shows in India, even as its TRP ratings have seen a decline from their peak years. The 18th season is expected to be “different” from prior ones, with a recent behind-the-scenes promotional video featuring Salman Khan hinting at significant changes in the show’s format. While Nia is the only confirmed contestant so far, there are speculations regarding other participants, including Shilpa Shirodkar, Digvijay Singh Rathee, Shoaib Ibrahim, Nyraa Bannerjee, Muskan Bamne, Chahat Pandey, and Shehzada Dhami.
