Finally, Saif Ali Khan has revealed last month the disturbing attack he suffered at his Mumbai home. An intruder struck him on January 16, causing him six knife gashes. Hospitalized and operated multiple times, the actor is now back on set. With Delhi Times, Saif presented his son Taimur’s response to the violence in his first interview since it happened.
Saif Ali Khan on Taimur’s Response
Saif remarked, thinking back on the times after the assault, that his kurta was blood from the wounds he sustained fighting the intruder. Including his wife Kareena Kapoor, his sons Taimur and Jeh, his family raced downstairs searching for a taxi or auto to get the hospital.
“I said, I kind of feel some pain. There’s something wrong with my back. She said – you go to the hospital and I’ll go to my sister’s house. She was making calls frantically – but nobody was up. And we looked at each other, and I said, ‘I’m fine. I’m not going to die.’ And Taimur also asked me – ‘Are you going to die?’ I said, ‘No.’”
Why Taimur Went to the Hospital with Him
Reports at first indicated Saif’s older son Ibrahim had driven him to the hospital. Later at Lilavati Hospital, though, doctors verified it was really Taimur. Saif added that his eight-year-old boy came with him to help him.
“He was absolutely composed. He was fine. He said, ‘I’m coming with you.’ And I thought, if something happens… I was getting a lot of comfort just from looking at him at that time. And I didn’t want to go alone. My wife sent him knowing what he would do for me. Maybe it wasn’t… at the moment, it was the right thing to do. I felt good about it. And I also thought, if God forbid, something happens, I’d like for him to be there. And he wanted to be there also. So, we went – him, me and Hari – in the rickshaw.”
The assault on Saif Ali Khan had started around 3:20 pm
The shocking attack left Saif with multiple injuries, but he has since recovered and resumed work. The incident has sparked concern among fans, with many appreciating his strength and resilience in facing such a traumatic event.
