Alia Bhatt Kapoor: Did the Actor Change Her Name After Marrying Ranbir? Watch Promo

Alia Bhatt recently hinted that she may have adopted her husband’s surname, Kapoor, after their wedding. The couple tied the knot in April 2022 and welcomed their daughter, Raha Kapoor, later that year. Alia made this surprising revelation during a recent appearance on The Great Indian Kapil Show, where she introduced herself as “Alia Bhatt Kapoor” while interacting with comedian Sunil Grover.

The Moment Alia Introduced Herself as ‘Alia Bhatt Kapoor’

Alia’s remark took place during a humorous exchange with Sunil Grover, who appeared on the show in his character Dafli. When Sunil called her “Alia Bhatt,” she promptly corrected him, saying, “It’s Alia Bhatt Kapoor.” This moment caught fans off guard, sparking speculation about whether Alia was serious about the name change or simply having fun.

Ranbir Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor Also Featured in Promo

Ranbir Kapoor and his mother, Neetu Kapoor, were also featured in the edited promo shared by Netflix on Instagram. The post’s caption read, “Bhatt-er pick your sides for this face-off…” Alia was promoting her upcoming movie Jigra, while Ranbir and Neetu had previously appeared on the show earlier in the year.

Fans React to Alia’s Name Change

Fans took to the comments section of the promo, expressing their curiosity. Some wondered if Alia was just joking or if she had officially changed her name, joining other Bollywood actresses who have adopted their husband’s surname after marriage. For instance, Aishwarya Rai became Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Priyanka Chopra now goes by Priyanka Chopra Jonas, and Kareena Kapoor added Khan to her name after marrying Saif Ali Khan.

One fan commented, “Awesome acting…” suggesting Alia might have been playful with her response. Another said, “The moment we all were waiting for…” while others speculated, with one writing, “Whyyyyyyyyyyy?” Another comment humorously read, “If you remove both last names, who are you?”

Alia Bhatt’s Upcoming Projects

In addition to Jigra, co-starring Vedang Raina, Alia has a busy schedule ahead. She is set to appear in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love and War, alongside Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal. She will also star as a spy in the upcoming film Alpha, featuring Sharvari Wagh.
