Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan has confirmed an exciting new collaboration with renowned Tamil filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj for a high-octane superhero film. The project is expected to hit the theaters in the second half of 2025. Speaking to PTI, Aamir revealed, “Lokesh and I are working on a film. It is a superhero film, a big-scale action film and it will start next year, second half.”
Lokesh Kanagaraj, who has made a mark in Tamil cinema with critically acclaimed blockbusters like Vikram, Leo, Kaithi, and Master, is known for his gritty storytelling and dynamic action sequences. This collaboration marks a significant crossover between Bollywood and Tamil cinema and is already generating considerable buzz.
PK 2 Not Happening, Confirms Aamir
Aamir also put to rest speculation around a possible sequel to his 2014 satirical hit PK. Denying the rumours, he said, “PK 2 is a rumour. I’m doing the Dadasaheb Phalke biopic with Raju (Rajkumar Hirani), and we are working on it.” The biopic will celebrate the life and legacy of Dadasaheb Phalke, considered the father of Indian cinema.
The actor also opened up about his dream project, Mahabharata. Calling it his most ambitious venture, he said, “It’s not a film, when you’re making Mahabharata, you’re surrendering.” He explained that he is still in the early stages of laying a solid foundation for the project and will only speak further once there is more clarity.
Aamir Suggests Potential Sequels
Reflecting on sequels from his past work, Aamir mentioned that 3 Idiots, Dil Chahta Hai, and Sarfarosh have strong sequel potential. For Dil Chahta Hai, he suggested an intriguing theme where the three friends, now facing mid-life crises, are in therapy — a modern, relatable twist.
Meanwhile, Aamir’s next film Sitaare Zameen Par is slated for release on June 20. With a strong lineup of projects ranging from biopics to action spectacles, Khan’s return to the big screen is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated phases of his career.
