Actor Randhir Kapoor’s younger brother Rajiv Kapoor passed away on Tuesday, 9 February. Rajiv Kapoor was 58 years old. He suffered a massive cardiac arrest, following which Randhir Kapoor rushed him to Inlaks Hospital where at 12 pm, he breathed his last breath.
Sister-in-law Neetu Kapoor posted a photo of the actor on social media and wrote: “RIP.” Rajiv Kapoor, who was also a film producer and director, was the youngest son of the legendary actor-filmmaker Raj Kapoor, and brother of Randhir Kapoor and Rishi Kapoor. Rishi Kapoor died last year. The ‘Ram Teri Ganga Maili’ actor suffered a heart attack at his residence in Chembur.
Rajiv Kapoor, made his debut with the 1983 film ‘Ek Jaan Hain Hum’. He was last seen in ‘Zimmedaar’. He also acted in films like ‘Mera Saathi’ and ‘Hum To Chale Pardes’, among others. He was fondly called ‘Chimpu’, turned a film producer with the 1991 film ‘Henna’ starring Rishi Kapoor. He backed other home productions like ‘Prem Granth’ and ‘Aa Ab Laut Chalen’.
Rajiv Kapoor’s family members Neetu Singh, Ranbir Kapoor, brother Randhir Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor, Karishma Kapoor, Aadar Jain, Armaan Jain with his wife Annissa, and Zahan Kapoor visited the late actor’s residence. Bollywood actors Sanjay Kapoor, Maheep Kapoor, and Chunkey Pandey came to pay homage to the late actor. Alia Bhatt, and Tara Sutaria also visited the residence of the late actor.
Bollywood Celebrities on social media gave their condolences to the family of the late actor. Neha Dhupia wrote, “So so sorry to hear this.” Sophie Choudhary commented, “Omg I am so so sorry to hear this Deepest condolences to the entire family. May his soul RIP.” Sonia Razdan said, “So sorry to hear this.” Veteran singer Lata Mangeshkar expressed her grief with a tweet saying, “Mujhe abhi pata chala ki Raj Kapoor sahab ke chote bete, guni abhineta Rajiv Kapoor ka aaj swargwas hua. Sunke mujhe bahut dukh hua.Ishwar unki aatma ko shanti pradan kare yehi meri prarthana.” “Sad to hear of the passing away of Rajiv Kapoor! Deepest condolences to the family! May his soul rest in peace,” tweeted Tusshar Kapoor.
Funeral of Late actor Rajiv Kapoor took place at Cremation ground located in Chembur in the presence of 20 family members at 6pm yesterday evening. Shahrukh Khan and Gauri Khan attended the funeral.
