Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Thursday said that the Bharatiya Janata Party will take time to stake a claim to form a government, adding that central leaders of the party will decide the Chief Minister.

“We will take time to stake a claim to form a government, let the results be out. Our national leaders will decide on Chief Minister face, we will focus on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mantra of inclusive development,” said Manipur CM on assembly elections results. Bharatiya Janata Party is inching towards the majority mark with the incumbent party having won 28 Assembly seats, the Election Commission data showed on Thursday evening.

As per the ECI data at 9:00 pm, the BJP has won 28 seats and is leading on 4 seats.

Congress has won 5 seats and is leading on 5 seats, Janata Dal (United) won 3 seats and is leading on two seats.

Further, parties namely Naga Peoples Front and National People’s Party have won 5 and 6 seats respectively.

Biren Singh on Thursday said that the BJP’s historic victory in Manipur is a testament to the people’s faith in the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and citizen-centric governance.

Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) is poised to return to power with a comfortable majority for an unprecedented second term in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is on course to a historic victory in Punjab, according to election results and trends on Thursday.

In the other two states of Manipur and Goa, which also went to polls in February-March, the BJP has emerged as the single largest party and is on course to form the government.

As Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is all set to return to power in four states- Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Manipur and Goa, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday expressed gratitude to people for reposing their faith in the BJP under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi.
