AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi on Sunday took on the BJP while campaigning in the Erragadda area of Hyderabad for the municipal polls, saying the party should focus on jobs and development, and not love jihad.

“Will the BJP accommodate the jobless youth in the Cabinet? BJP should talk about jobs, development. What is this love jihad campaign? Spread love. BJP should spread love instead of hate. Love and jihad could not co-exist. I oppose UAPA. Nowhere in the world, there is a detention of 120 days. It’s used against Muslims and Dalits in this country,” Owaisi said. He also advised BJP leaders to read the Constitution before bringing baseless and senseless laws.

The AIMIM leader further criticised the BJP for trying to give communal colour to the forthcoming Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) polls. Owaisi said, “If you wake up a BJP leader at night and ask them to give some names, they will say Owaisi, followed by a traitor, terrorism and lastly Pakistan. Hyderabad was hit by a flood. What financial help did the Modi government provide to Hyderabad? They are trying to give this (election) a communal colour because they provided no help at that time. This will not work in Hyderabad, people are aware of their politics.”

On the 2021 Bengal Assembly elections, Owais said that his party has not decided yet. Once the decision is taken, the AIMIM fights with all might.

Owaisi further said that there would be no alliance with the TRS in the upcoming polls and claimed that state Power Minister Jagadeesh Reddy of the TRS had falsely said that AIMIM leaders met PM Narendra Modi.

The AIMIM leader also said that Congress had made similar allegations against the party after the Bihar elections.
