BJP Releases Its Manifesto For Polls In U.P., Punjab, Goa

The BJP released its manifesto for the poll-bound states of Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Goa on Tuesday. With an aim to honour the legacy of legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar, Union Home Minister Amit Shah while releasing ‘Lok Kalyan Sankalp Patra-2022’ for Uttar Pradesh said that the Bharatiya Janata Party led government will establish a “Performing Arts Academy”. Help us to come in power with a majority of more than 300 seats and we’ll fulfil our promises made in the Sankalp Patra.” He termed 2022 BJP “Sankalp Patra” as the Uttar Pradesh government’s resolution. Shah also said that the BJP government in the state fulfilled 92 per cent of the total promises made in the 2017 ‘Sankalp Patra’.

“The BJP UP team has been formed with this ‘Sankalp Patra’. It is not just a ‘ghoshna patra’. it is UP government resolution… the 2017 ‘Sankalp Patra’ had 212 resolutions, of which 92 per cent have been fulfilled. We do what we say,” Shah added.

The BJP also promised to provide free irrigation facilities to all the farmers along with assurance of payment to be given to sugarcane farmers within 14 days. Shah released ‘Lok Kalyan Sankalp Patra-2022’. In addition, the BJP also affirmed to provide free travel facility to for women above 60 years of age and free scooties to meritorious girl college students. “We have decided that in the next five years, free irrigation facility will be provided to all farmers, payment to be given to sugarcane farmers within 14 days,” Shah said. In a bid to empower women, he said that BJP will also provde free travel for women above 60 years of age, free scooties to meritorious female college students under Rani Laxmi Bai Yojana and will double the number of women candidates in all government jobs, including UPSC. Shah asserted that the party will also provide financial assistance of up to Rs 1 lakh to the community marriage grant scheme. “We will also increase the amount of Mukhyamantri Kanya Sumangala Yojana for women from Rs 15,000 to Rs 25,000,” he added. The Home Minister said, “The BJP government will also provide two free LPG cylinders on every Holi and Diwali to all the beneficiaries of Ujjwala Yojana. All Anganwadi workers and health friends will be provided health insurance under Ayushman Bharat.”

A report from Chandigarh said the BJP released its manifesto for the Punjab Assembly polls on Tuesday, promising to entirely waive off the debt of all farmers with less than five acres of land-holdings in the state. Besides, the party also promised “Mehnat Da Pakka Mull” under which the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for farmers growing fruits, vegetables, pulses, and oilseeds will be guaranteed as part of the central government’s MSP extension programme. For sustaining crop diversification and making it more rewarding, the alliance promised a dedicated annual budget of Rs 5,000 crore for agriculture.

As per an official statement from the BJP, Union Minister and BJP in-charge for Punjab Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, along with Shiromani Akali Dal-Sanyukt leader Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa and BJP state general secretary Subash Sharma, said that this was a futuristic manifesto that is set to revolutionise the rural and agricultural economy in Punjab. The BJP is fighting the Assembly polls in alliance with former Chief Minister Amarinder Singh-led Punjab Lok Congress (PLC) and Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa-led Shiromani Akali Dal (Sanyukt). The alliance promised that one lakh acres of ‘Shamlat Land’ in the state will be allocated to rural landless farmers for cultivation. Besides, every landless farmer in the state would be given an annual financial assistance of Rs 6,000 under Pradhan Mantri Kisan Sanman Yojana. For ‘Sustainable Green Revolution’, the manifesto promised an annual budget of Rs 5,000 crore to support Sustainable Agriculture and Organic Farming in the state.

A report from Panaji said Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari on Tuesday released the BJP manifesto for the ensuing Goa Assembly polls which comprises 22 promises including “no increase in state duties for three years on petrol and diesel”. The party in its manifesto promised three free gas cylinders to every household in a year, housing for all, state duties on diesel and petrol prices will not increase for the next three years, funds will be given to every Gram Panchayat and Municipality to boost infrastructure to improve ease of living, making Goa the Perfect Tourism Destination, making state a football destination, among others. The party said that to incorporate grassroots suggestions in the “people-centric” manifesto, Sankalp boxes were sent across the state where people submitted their feedback and expectations.
