BJP is now preparing to create an environment on social media to connect with OBC youths before the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. For this, 20,000 cyber warriors will be trained in Uttar Pradesh. These warriors will particularly focus on informing youths on social media about what BJP has done for the backward classes so far. The OBC Morcha of UP BJP has planned to conduct training workshops in various districts for this purpose from the second week of August. On Tuesday, the OBC Morcha will hold a virtual meeting with district presidents to finalise the entire plan.
A team will be formed at the Mandal level in every Lok Sabha constituency
BJP’s main focus now will be on youth, especially on social media. Recently, during his visit to UP, BJP’s National General Secretary (Organisation) BL Santosh had a separate meeting on social media. He stated that what a few people know is disseminated to a larger audience through social media. Therefore, the BJP will now focus on training social media volunteers, calling them “cyber warriors.” The OBC Morcha President of BJP and Minister in the government, Narendra Kashyap, revealed that they are preparing separate teams from the Lok Sabha to the Mandal level. Each team will consist of 23 people at the Lok Sabha, Assembly, and state levels. Additionally, there will be teams of 13 members each at the district and Mandal levels. These cyber warriors will primarily share information on what the central government and the UP government have done for the backward classes on social media. Training workshops will be organized in every district, and after the training, this information will be disseminated to individuals through Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
Social media influencers have been engaged in every LS constituency
Before this, BJP had launched a campaign under the Lok Jan Sampark Abhiyan to connect with social media influencers in every Lok Sabha constituency. Under this, discussions were to be held with 100 social media influencers in each district. Social media influencers from both the ruling BJP and opposition parties and neutral influencers were invited. All MPs were required to form their teams in their respective Lok Sabha constituencies. BJP believed that if these influencers also posted positively about the party, it would be beneficial, and if they criticized the party, it could cause damage. Therefore, reaching out to them was necessary as their messages reached a large number of people.
Experiment has been successful
BJP’s social media experiment has been successful so far. In the 2022 UP Assembly elections, BJP had created WhatsApp groups in all 403 constituencies. Earlier, during the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the party had created separate Facebook pages and WhatsApp groups for each Lok Sabha constituency. Now, the party is preparing for a similar campaign for 2024. OBC Morcha President Narendra Kashyap said that the central government has given constitutional status to the OBC Commission. The government has also provided 27% reservation to backward classes in NEET exams, central schools, and military schools’ admissions. PM Modi has included 27 MPs from backward classes in his cabinet. No previous government had done all this. This information will now reach every OBC. Since youths are very active on social media, they will be directly connected to BJP.
