The Performance Review Committee Report of the Ministry of Rural Development Govt of India is giving a down thump to Chandigarh’s Member of Parliament and Bollywood Actor Kirron Kher. The Review Committee data and people’s grievances are matching in unison. Village Sarangpur was an adopted village of Kirron Kher in 2014, was supposed to be a Smart village under Saansad Aadarsh Gramin Yoajna (SAGY)where Kher has spent nearly Rs 1.68 crore on various projects.
But villagers and ex-Sarpanch Sadhu Singh says it’s a half-hearted job and was just a show-business. There have been two villages that were adopted by MP Kher; village Sarangpur and village Raipur Kalan. In the village Raipur Kalan no development work has yet been done so far, Singh said.
Chandigarh has 23 villages now under Municipal Corporation. Till the time in the year 2018, the Panchayat Raj was active in 13 villages of Chandigarh, Panchayat together as a team used to take care of the village but after the year 2018, maximum villages of Chandigarh and its people were forced to live an unhygienic, unsystematic life ahead, malcontent villagers allege.
COMPARISON
Bihar is way better than Chandigarh, Bihar has planned SAGY till Phase 8 whereas Chandigarh SAGY failed to execute after phase 2 only i.e.( 2016-2019). On the other hand, Andhra Pradesh too has planned SAGY till phase 8 i.e. till (2023-24). Even Haryana has planned its development plan till phase 8.
In SAGY Phase II (2019-2021) Chandigarh is ‘zero in executing any plan’ for the development of villages. Under SAGY Rs. 4,50,000/- money is granted but it kept on lapsing till date.
KAUSHAL PANJEE SCHEME FAILURE
As per data, Chandigarh failing in this program as well. 37 candidates have applied and to date Chandigarh could not provide training to any of the youth applied under this program. Kaushal Panjee Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD) has initiated the Kaushal Panjee for registration and mobilization of rural youths.
TWITTER BOGUS VERSUS REALITY ON GROUND
“On 26 May 2014 regarding development works under SAGY and presented beautifully on Twitter but Village people call it just a onetime script of some Bollywood film that ended, and no other film started afterwards,’’ says Amit Kaushal, a young boy of village Sarangpur.
“The sports ground is of no use to us. It is closed for us. The authorities have told villagers to get registration cards made to enter the ground. Youngsters in the village want to play all games, but can’t,” said Sadhu Singh, ex-Sarpanch of Village Sarangpur. As far as the community centre is concerned, Sadhu Singh said, “At the time of the inauguration of the community centre, we had given a list of various shortcomings and give letter on our letterhead to MP and the administration, but they have not been fixed till now. It has a tin roof and it becomes difficult to even stand there during the summers. Besides, there is seepage in walls.”
The Daily Guardian approached Kirron Kher via calls and messages, however, she hasn’t replied to any queries so far.
