Maharashtra BJP MLA Gopichand Padalkar on Wednesday has given a controversial statement against NCP leader Sharad Pawaras he called him the “corona virus” of Maharashtra. The BJP MLA is believed to be close to former Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
“Sharad Pawar is a coronavirus. He has been leading Maharashtra for years. Maligning people is always his prime role. He doesn’t have any agenda or vision. He always does injustice,” Padalkar said. “I don’t think he has a positive vision regarding the reservation for the Dhangar community. He only plays politics over this matter,” he added.
After the statement of Padalkar, the ruling alliance fiercely targeted the BJP. The BJP MLA’s effigies were burnt by NCP supporters, and slippers were used to hit his photos. On the other hand, the Shiv Sena has also condemned the BJP leader’s statement.
Earlier, BJP MP Parvesh Verma had also stoked a fresh controversy by calling Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Priayanka Gandhi a “virus”. He also suggested that they should be kept in quarantine for creating a panic-like situation in the country amid Covid-19 outbreak.
