Chandigarh’s MP, Kirron Kher, along with Chandigarh BJP President Jitendrapal Malhotra and former Mayor Rajesh Kalia, criticised Mayor Kuldeep Singh during a media session, dubbing him “Rondu Ram” in response to alleged insults directed towards the administrator-MP. Kher questioned whether Singh had become “untouchable” after switching from Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and BJP to the Aam Aadmi Party.

Kher condemned the allegations against the Mayor, deeming them cheap and wrong. She defended precautions taken for health reasons amid her recovery from a serious illness, refuting claims of political opportunism associated with such measures.

Expressing disappointment, Kher asserted her inclusive approach towards all classes and individuals, highlighting her track record of fair treatment. She criticized Singh’s behavior, asserting that the Mayor’s role demanded maturity, not childish behavior. Kher vowed to refer to Singh as “Rondu Ram” but denounced the term “untouchable,” suggesting it was a ploy to gain political advantage.

Kher lambasted the Aam Aadmi Party’s tactics, likening them to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s alleged drama with LG and government officials. She criticized the party’s governance in Delhi and Punjab, accusing them of misleading the public with promises of freebies without a concrete development plan.

Kher took aim at Singh’s efforts to promote Ahluwalia as Chandigarh’s new hero, suggesting manipulation of Kuldeep Singh Tita. She asserted that the Aam Aadmi Party’s false promises couldn’t match the BJP’s development record.

Regarding the Aam Aadmi Party’s claims of providing 40 thousand jobs in Punjab, Kher challenged them to publish appointment details on their website, contrasting it with BJP’s tangible achievements such as the increase in IITs from 6 to 18. The press conference began with tributes to late senior journalist Sardar Santokh Singh, commending his contributions to journalism.

Kher also referenced her initiative, “MP Aapke Dwar,” which she claims the Mayor appropriated into “Mayor Aapke Dwar.” She urged Aam Aadmi Party leaders to focus on development instead of theatrical gestures.
