Exuding confidence over BJP’s victory in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday said the BJP government in the state means “control over rioters”, “mafiaraj” and “gunda raj”, and protection of women”.

Addressing a public rally in Sitapur, the Prime Minister said, “A BJP government in Uttar Pradesh means constant control over rioters, mafiaraj, and gundaraj. BJP government in Uttar Pradesh means freedom to celebrate the festivals. BJP government in Uttar Pradesh means protection of sisters and daughters from eve-teasers. BJP government in Uttar Pradesh means Centre’s schemes being implemented at double speed.”

He said the double engine government is working with double power to empower the poor and make Uttar Pradesh an “Uttam Pradesh”. “I come from a poor family. I did not hear the speeches of poverty, I have come from poverty. I reached here going through the life of the poor,” he added.

In Pathankot, PM Modi on Wednesday said that the BJP government followed in the footsteps of Sant Ravidas and ensured that everyone had food during the Covid-19 pandemic. Addressing a public rally in Pathankot, PM Modi said, “We have the same ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’ principle. For our government, the betterment of the poor is the most pertinent task. The world has been affected by the Covid pandemic but the BJP government followed in the footsteps of Sant Ravidas and ensured that everyone got food. Despite the pandemic, India is giving free ration to crores of citizens including the poor of Punjab. We made all the efforts and ensured that no one is left hungry. Even in big countries, people have no food but we have given food to people and ensured that. This is holy service for me.” “Vaccine has become a boon for the country as we made sure free vaccines for all. The economy has also improved because of the vaccines and our government has prioritised it,” he said.

The Prime Minister said that more than 95% of the people have already been administered with the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine and work is in progress to administer the second dose at a fast pace. With the vaccine, the countrymen have got a huge protective shield to fight against Corona, he added. He said that the BJP government also provided free of cost Covid-19 vaccines to all people. “We went from village to village and worked day and night to save the lives of the countrymen and we did what the world could not do,” he said. “I came to Pathankot on a scooter and train. People from Pathankot were so kind that they brought food for me in lunchboxes,” he added.

Launching a scathing attack at Nehru-Gandhi dynasty, Prime Minister Modi slammed the Congress government for failing to merge Kartarpur Sahib, the final resting place of Guru Nanak Dev, within India’s territory during partition in 1947, or after wins in subsequent wars. “Even during the 1965 war, Congress did not bother to take back the land. During the 1971 war, the government sitting in Delhi should have returned the 90,000 Pakistani soldiers on the condition that Pakistan returned the Tapobhumi of Guru Nanak Devji Kartarpur Sahib Gurdwara.”

The Prime Minister accused Congress of belittling and insulting the sacrifices of the soldiers who died during the 2016 Pathankot attack. “When Pakistani terrorists attacked this land of Pathankot, the entire country was united but where were Congress party leaders at that time? They questioned the capabilities of our armed forces, they raised doubts, they raised questions on the sacrifices of our martyrs. Even during the anniversary of Pulwama attack, they are again questioning the proofs of our soldiers’ capabilities. Now it’s you who have to decide if can we trust the security of a border state like Punjab in such people’s hands,” Modi said in Pathankot.

He praised Captain Amarinder Singh, saying that he was in Congress earlier and stopped such intentions of the party. “But now, he has also left,” the PM said.
