In order to make the organization battle ready for 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the Bharatiya Janta Party has asked its ministers in the Central government to go to those 140 seats which the party had lost in the 2019 general elections. The BJP ministers are expected to interact with BJP workers of these parliamentary constituencies and motivate and activate them. The party has also asked its MPs to go to 100 polling booths in their respective constituencies, where the party did not perform well and strengthen them by creating strong booth management teams there. The directive to make the party poll ready coincides with the completion of 8 years by the Modi government in office.

The directive came after BJP National President J.P. Nadda and Home Minister Amit Shah held a meeting with central ministers of the party at the BJP headquarters on May 25. The minsters were exhorted to not only put their act together in all those 140 constituencies the party had lost in 2019 elections but also ensure their victory in their respective seats.

The party wants to repeat its performance of the previous elections where it won 303 seats, while ensuring its victory to those 140 seats it had lost then. BJP is trying to expand its political base in southern states and is hopeful to make some electoral gains in Telangana, while it is exploring possibilities in Andhra Pradesh.

To achieve the ambitious goal, BJP chief Nadda has asked party MPs to work to strengthen 100 booths where the party had not performed well. He has also directed BJP MLAs to build a strong booth management committee in each of 25 booths in their constituency which are weak in terms of party performance.

The BJP national president also held a virtual meeting for strengthening booth management, in which he addressed all BJP MPs and legislators, along with booth committee managers from all states. Addressing the meeting he said, “A strong booth means a strong BJP. A booth win means we win an election.” The Modi government is completing 8 years in office on May 30 this year. The BJP will begin preparations for 2024 elections on this day. The BJP will also organise programmes on the themes of service, good governance and welfare of the poor to celebrate the completion of 8 years in office by the Modi government.
