The Delhi unit of BJP has blamed Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for the poor condition of Delhi’s roads. The opposition party criticised AAP for neglecting road maintenance for the past decade and accused the party of suddenly promising to fix potholes just.

According to Delhi BJP, the Public Works Department (PWD), responsible for maintaining roads, was for years under the control of Satyendra Jain, who is often described as the “most corrupt member” of the Kejriwal government. After Jain, Manish Sisodia took charge, and for the past year, the department has been under Atishi Marlena, who the BJP claims operates under the direction of Kejriwal and Sisodia.

Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva, speaking to the media, said that Kejriwal, Jain, Sisodia and Marlena are primarily responsible for the city’s deteriorating roads. He expressed confidence that the people of Delhi would reject them in the upcoming assembly elections.

Sachdeva also pointed to corruption within the Delhi Jal Board and the PWD, particularly in their failure to clean drains and sewers, as a major contributor to road damage. This negligence, he said, leads to yearly waterlogging, further worsening road conditions and causing cave-ins across the city. Drawing a comparison to the poor road conditions during Lalu Yadav’s time in Bihar, the BJP asserted that despite any last-minute inspections or repairs by Atishi Marlena and her team, Delhi’s residents would not forgive them. Sachdeva warned that the Kejriwal government would be held accountable for its corruption and incompetence.
