Lok Sabha and Assembly elections are scheduled for next year in Haryana and the idea of simultaneous polls has caused much anticipation in political circles in the state. The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is making every possible effort to strengthen its organisation. Almost three and a half years ago, the JJP and the main ruling party, BJP, succeeded in forming the government in an alliance—however, since then the two have been at loggerheads over a string of issues. It seemed earlier that the alliance between the two might come to an end anytime. Recently, however, the JJP was invited to the NDA meeting held in the national capital. This move came as a relief to the party, assuaging concerns of a broken alliance for some time.
The JJP has also been facing the displeasure of its vote cadre on many issues, especially its alliance with the BJP. Besides, the JJP is also continuously claiming under the strategy in a bid to put pressure on the saffron BJP. The latest statement of party president Ajay Chautala that the people are required to get the JJP at least 46 seats, is also being viewed in the same way. Of course, for the time being, the BJP put an end to the talks of breaking the alliance, but nothing can be said about the future. Kuldeep Bishnoi who has recently joined the BJP in a bid to forward his political legacy, has expressed his desire to contest elections on the Hisar seat. In a way, he expressed his ambition to contest from here in front of the party.
The families of Chaudhary Birender Singh and Dushyant Chautala have also been contesting elections on this seat. Regarding Bishnoi’s statement, Birender Singh’s son and BJP MP said that Kuldeep Bishnoi is a senior leader, and if he wants to contest the election, he should try his best, while stating that his own preparations for the same are complete. However, he is of the opinion that such discussions are meaningless at present as elections are still far-off. Three major political families are associated with the BJP in one way or the other. Following the policy of ‘wait and watch’, BJP seems to be in the driving seat and is taking political advantage from all three. Political experts are of the opinion that these families that carry political legacies and the BJP are associating with each other in a bid to gain political mileage.
