The Bihar Police revealed on Saturday that 4 individuals have been arrested in connection with the murder of a Dainik Jagran journalist who was shot dead at his home in Araria district in the early hours of Friday.
Th victim is identified as 40-year-old Vimal Yadav. Four individuals who arrived at his Raniganj home shot him in the chest.
“Eight people have been named as accused. Four of the accused namely Vipin Yadav, Bhavesh Yadav, Ashish Yadav and Umesh Yadav have been arrested. Two accused Rupesh Yadav and Kranti Yadav are in Araria jail and the police are taking them on remand. Two accused are absconding,” several media quoted the Bihar Police.
In 2019, the journalist witnessed his brother’s murder. Vimal was shot dead at 5.30 a.m., according to police superintendent Ashok Kumar Singh. According to Singh, it appears to be a case of hatred at first glance.
“The journalist was also a key witness to the murder of his elder brother.” He added Vimal was shot in his chest and he died on the spot. “…an investigation has started and police have been asked to obtain CCTV footage if any,” he said. “Further probe is underway.”
Puja Kumari, Vimal’s widow, said they rushed him to a hospital where the doctors declared him dead. “He was a key witness to the murder of his brother and was threatened several times to turn hostile.”
