Sheela Kumari Mandal is one of the most well-known women leaders in Bihar politics. She represents the Phulparas Assembly constituency and is known as a pragmatic leader with her feet firmly on the ground and increasing clout within the Janata Dal (United).
Sheela Mandal is an Indian politician and currently a member of the Bihar Legislative Assembly. She represents the Phulparas constituency in the Madhubani district and has also been appointed as the Minister for Transport and Communication in the Bihar government.
Born in the district of Darbhanga, Bihar in 1970, Sheela Mandal is 54 years old as of 2025.
Sheela Mandal belongs to the Janata Dal (United) is a key constituent of Bihar’s ruling coalition.
She attained her postgraduate degree, M.A., from Lalit Narayan Mithila University in 1996 and is thus academically very sound.
The total value of the assets, as estimated in her latest affidavit, is Rs. 6.09 crore, with no declared liabilities.

In 2020, she faced public criticism for a remark comparing Veer Kunwar Singh and Ramphal Mandal that sparked a caste-based debate in Bihar.

According to her Income Tax Returns, her declared income has remained consistently within the range of Rs. 4.3 lakh-Rs. 5.9 lakh between FY 2017 and 2020.
