The second phase of the Bihar Assembly Election 2025 saw a steady rise in voter turnout as polling continued across 20 districts on Tuesday (November 11). According to the Election Commission of India (ECI), voter turnout stood at 47.62% till 1 PM.
Long queues were seen outside polling stations since early morning, especially in rural and semi-urban areas. Many voters arrived before sunrise to cast their ballots, demonstrating strong turnout despite the cold weather. Officials confirmed that polling has been peaceful so far, with no major reports of violence or disruption.
Among all constituencies, Kishanganj reported the highest voter turnout at 34.74% by 11 AM. Other districts also witnessed active participation. The turnout figures released by the ECI till 11 AM were as follows:
These numbers showed a moderate start, but officials expect turnout to rise further as the day progresses.
The second phase of polling covers 122 Assembly seats spread across 20 districts. Major political parties, including the RJD-led Mahagathbandhan and the NDA, are locked in a fierce contest. Prominent leaders like Tejashwi Yadav, Nitish Kumar, and Chirag Paswan have been actively campaigning, urging voters to come out in large numbers.
The Election Commission has deployed additional security forces to ensure smooth polling. Sensitive and vulnerable booths are being closely monitored through live webcasting and drones.
In districts like Gaya, Aurangabad, and Jamui — where past elections have witnessed incidents of unrest — the administration has maintained a special vigilance. Officials said polling has been peaceful, and efforts are being made to ensure every eligible voter can cast their vote without fear or influence.
Reports from several polling stations indicated enthusiastic participation from women and first-time voters. Many young voters expressed excitement about exercising their right to vote for the first time. Election officers said special arrangements like shade, drinking water, and wheelchairs were made to ensure a comfortable voting experience.
With the final phases still to come, the Bihar election is witnessing an energetic voter response. Analysts believe that rural voters, especially women, could play a decisive role in shaping the outcome of this phase.
As polling continues into the afternoon, officials expect the final turnout to cross 60% by the end of the day, reflecting Bihar’s strong democratic spirit.
