On the occasion of Guru Nanak Jayanti, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar offered prayers at Patna Sahib Gurdwara on Tuesday.

“It is a very important place as Guru Nanak was born here. We have built this place in such a way that the new generation will be aware,” CM Kumar said.

Meanwhile, Guru Nanak Jayanti is a sacred festival which is also known as Gurupurab which marks the birth of the first Sikh guru Guru Nanak Dev and is observed on the full moon date or Kartik Purnima every year.

Taking to Twitter CM Kumar also extended greetings to the people and said, “Greetings and best wishes on the occasion of Guru Nanak Jayanti. Guru Nanak had the qualities of a philosopher, yogi, householder, founder of a religion, social reformer, poet, patriot, and Vishwabandhu in his personality.”

Moreover, CM Nitish Kumar said, to fulfill Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s dream we will work together for creating a harmonious society in this Prakash Utsav. Guru Nanak Dev composed many hymns which were collected by Guru Arjan in the Adi Granth.

Guru Granth Sahib also propagates selfless service to humanity.

However, Guru Nanak Dev was a man of peace who was born in 1469 at Raj Bhoi di Talwandi village (Nankana Sahib) near Lahore. Nanak dev spent all his life spreading peace among the people.

Furthermore, on this day in Gurudwaras prayers are held and in many parts of India, Prakash Utsav is celebrated.
