Legendary Indian footballer Bhaichung Bhutia has filed fresh nominations for the post of president of the All India Football Federation on Thursday.

Bhaichung who had entered his name for the top post earlier as well had to file it again due to Supreme Court’s revised order, which mentioned that there will be no “eminent footballers” as individual voters which meant that anyone willing to contest the election will have to come through state units.

While the 45-year-old ex-Indian national team skipper’s name was earlier proposed by his former team Deepak Mandal and seconded by Madhu Kumari, this time he is being backed by Andhra Football Association and supported by Rajasthan Football Association.

The elections are scheduled to be held on 2nd September in New Delhi and the results will be declared on the next day. Apart from Bhaichung, another ex-Indian footballer Kalyan Chaubey is in the race and is considered to be a frontrunner for the president’s post.
