On the fourth Monday of “Sawan” month, the “Bhasma Aarti” for Lord Mahakal was performed at the Mahakaleshwar Temple in Ujjain early in the morning according to established traditions. The Bhasma Aarti was performed this morning in the Mahakaleshwar Temple in Ujjain in honor of Lord Mahakaleshwar, who is revered as the third of the twelve Jyotirlingas.

Lord Shiva’s Bhasma Aarti is only offered at the Mahakaleshwar temple in Ujjain. With the fresh pyre ashes, this aarti is performed at four in the morning. The temple’s priests offered Lord Shiva milk, curd, honey, sugar, and fruit juice before beginning the elaborate Bhasma Aarti. After that, sandalwood, abir, gulal, dry fruits, and other offerings were placed on the deity.

One of the twelve Jyotirlingas, or shrines, considered to be Shiva’s most sacred residences, the Mahakaleshwar Temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to the god Shiva. The temple is situated alongside the Holy River Shipra in the historical city of Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, India.
