Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma’s government is about to be more than two and a half months old. In these two and a half months, Chief Minister Bhajan Lal has made every effort to present a different image of his government.
Lok Sabha elections are definitely the first challenge in front of Chief Minister Bhajan Lal, but he will contest elections on the face of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Looking at the atmosphere of Lok Sabha elections and the weak strategy of Congress, it does not seem that BJP will have any difficulty in making a hat-trick.
So far, BJP seems confident about winning all 25 seats. However, it cannot be denied that after the formation of the Bhajan Lal government, there was a significant complaint against the BJP in the Karanpur by-elections.
On the other hand, the central government appointed Sudhanshu Pant, for his honest and clean image, as the Chief Secretary to help Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma. Pant exerted every effort to ensure the government functioned with discipline, honesty and integrity.
He conducted thorough inspections of government offices. However, despite these efforts, the appointment of officials did not contribute to the desired atmosphere.
Unlike the stringent timing policies implemented in central government offices after Prime Minister Modi’s government came into power in 2014, a similar environment has not been established here. Various factors contribute to this disparity.
Moreover, the rise in criminal incidents, cases of rape, and the frequent transfers of officials and policemen suggest that there are underlying issues. It appears that there is a lack of experienced and knowledgeable individuals within Chief Minister Bhajan Lal’s team.
Undoubtedly, Prime Minister Modi gave a big message by giving an opportunity to a common worker Bhajan Lal Sharma. However, it seems that Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma is not getting the kind of support from some ministers or officers as he should. Somewhere, there seems to be an atmosphere of coercion.
Mistakes have also been made in transfers and postings. Some officers were changed two or three times quickly. Flaws were also found in the transfer list. There are also discussions about appointments made on the recommendation of MLAs and ministers.
Bhajan Lal Sharma is handling the responsibility of the Chief Minister for the first time, so he may be understanding things right now. However, if the government does not send the right message initially, then the opposition sitting in the wings will get a chance.
The opposition may arise from both internal and external sources. Law and order could emerge as a significant concern due to the lack of noticeable improvements.
There is a lack of clear direction, and criminal incidents, including cases of rape, have occurred during this period, potentially leading to future challenges.
Congress does not adopt the same confrontational approach as the BJP when in opposition, therefore political agitation is unlikely. Additionally, Congress demonstrates weakness in strategic planning.
Despite numerous opportunities in Rajasthan, Congress struggles to gain any advantage from them. However, BJP excels at successfully capitalizing on minor issues and shortcomings of Congress, leading to a victory in the Assembly elections.
