In anticipation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s scheduled visit to the upcoming elections in Chhattisgarh on Wednesday, Inspector General of Police P Sundarraj has announced the enhancement of security measures.

Authorities have deployed a significant number of police personnel in Bastar district, where PM Modi is slated to inaugurate various development initiatives.

“Security arrangements have been beefed up and police have been deployed. We have also conducted security drills so that the event takes place peacefully. We are making sure that nothing mishappening occurs,” Bastar IG said while speakingĀ on the security arrangements.

In the meantime, the governing Congress party has declared a ‘bandh’ in Bastar, expressing its opposition to the privatization of the Nagarnar steel plant. On Monday, the Congress party’s state division utilized ‘X’ as a platform to officially announce the strike in the Bastar district.
